Stability
A consistent home environment built around safety and dependable routines.
Program overview
Housing With Purpose. Stability With Support.
Our purpose
Harper House Residential LLC is a Detroit-based independent living housing program designed to provide safe, structured, and affordable residential options for adults working toward greater stability and independence. Our program is especially focused on supporting individuals navigating major life transitions, including returning citizens reentering the community.
We believe housing should provide more than a place to stay—it should create an environment where residents can establish routines, develop practical skills, pursue meaningful goals, and build a stronger foundation for their next chapter.
Be the change
Harper House combines independent living with structure, accountability, life-skills development, and connections to community resources. Residents maintain their independence while living in an environment designed to encourage stability, personal responsibility, and forward progress.
A consistent home environment built around safety and dependable routines.
Every resident is met with respect, privacy, and belief in what comes next.
Shared accountability and encouragement make lasting change more possible.
Be The Change
Residents participate in Be The Change Life Skills Coaching, a practical development program focused on skills that support successful independent living and community reintegration. Coaching may include:
Pathway
For residents interested in entrepreneurship, Harper House offers an additional pathway focused on turning ideas, skills, and talents into legitimate income-producing opportunities.
Through partnerships with entrepreneurs—including successful business owners with lived reentry experience—residents can receive mentorship from individuals who understand both the challenges of rebuilding and the realities of starting and operating a business.
Residents may be introduced to topics such as identifying a viable business idea, developing a business plan, establishing an LLC, obtaining an EIN, business banking, budgeting, branding, marketing, customer service, accessing entrepreneurial resources, and preparing for funding opportunities.
The goal is not simply to encourage residents to “start a business,” but to help interested participants understand what responsible entrepreneurship requires and determine whether business ownership is an appropriate path for them.
Together
Harper House seeks partnerships with case managers, reentry organizations, employers, entrepreneurs, financial educators, community agencies, volunteers, and other service providers. These partnerships allow residents to build a network of support that extends beyond housing and connects them with resources that can contribute to long-term stability.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help bridge the gap between transition and long-term independence by providing stable housing, practical life-skills development, entrepreneurial exposure, community connections, and an environment where residents can move forward with purpose.
Harper House is more than housing. It is a place to rebuild, refocus, develop and prepare for what comes next.
